Why? Oh, why?!?

Weddings.  I have a love/hate relationship with them.  I love doing all the planning and decorating and making it look all pretty.  I hate cleaning it all up at 3 o'clock in the morning and working like a dog and not seeing much profit at the end of the day.  I do have to say that this particular wedding posed some unusual challenges.  Hay trailers, misplaced decorations, lopsided cake (there is a wedged of paper under one layer...shhhhh don't tell!), decorations unable to be shipped to Canada, the bride's bouquet needing to be remade 2 hours before the ceremony and my business partner moving the week before it all went down...to name just a few!  In the end it was beautiful and as far as I could tell the bride was very happy with the way it all turned out.  If you want to see pictures feel free to go to my Summer 2011 album on Facebook and check them out (pics 28-33). I would add them to this post but I had a bit of a mishap on my way home to Lloyd and no longer have the phone that has the pictures on it.  We certainly crammed as much as possible into the time that I was home for this visit.  Went to Calgary to watch Dakota play rugby at Nationals (ate at Olive Garden and it was delicious!!).  Made a five tiered wedding cake complete with fondant, ribbon and fresh flowers.  Decorated the hall.  Made floral arrangements for the chapel.  Cleaned up the wedding until 4 a.m..  Finished a quilt top (not without it's own issues ~ future post to come with finished product photos!).  Had the Quilting Grandmas help quilt the quilt.  And then drove my Mom to the airport in Calgary so she could go visit my brother and his family in Toronto.  Busy busy busy.

I finally figured out how to steal the photo's from facebook... here they are!

Oh and about the phone...first I want to say that I am a moron.  Second I want to say that I was exhausted and should of stopped while I was ahead...but who does that?   I had dropped my Mom off at the airport with no problems and was feeling relatively good about the time-frame and the rest of the drive back to Lloyd.  I happened to spot a Costco that was right on the corner where I needed to turn to get headed in the right direction to Lloyd so I said to myself "Self, you haven't eaten yet.  Maybe you should hit the Costco food court and be on your way."  Good plan I thought.  So I went in and had a very nutritious breakfast of pizza, Coke and ice cream. Once I was back at the car I set my cell phone on the roof so that I could get Maitland loaded into his car seat and the stroller back into the trunk.  Then I drove away.  It was about 5 minutes later once I was already on the highway headed east that I noticed my phone wasn't on the seat beside me.  It was then I realized that I had left it on the roof and driven away.  Seriously???  Who does that?  Good work by me.  I spent the next hour driving back along the way I had come and combing the Costco parking lot to see if I could find my phone.  No luck.  I went back into Costco to see if anyone had found it and turned it in.  Nope.  I then went to the mall that was near by to see what my options were.  None of them worked for me!  So I got back in my car, had a good cry at my own stupidity and drove home. I'm crossing my fingers that by the time I get home my new phone will be there waiting for me.  Thank goodness for insurance.  Anyways there is just a little peek into life this past week.  I'm so grateful that my Mom was willing to take the time off work to help me with Maitland so that I could get everything done that I needed to.  It was a little tough sometimes but we made it!

  1. whew, I'm exhausted just reading that. I'm impressed you were able to do it all Kristi. Why do we make ourselves crazy busy like that? I keep trying to tell myself to slow down. I don't think I am listening ;)
